I was very fortunate to begin working with several South African Knife Makers many years ago, I am continually impressed with the Quality of their knives and the value they offer.  In my journey as a knife dealer several SA Makers have introduced me to other SA Makers and the list of quality knives that I sell from that country continues to grow.  

The newest addition to my website is South African Knife Makers Guild member Willem Steenkamp.  

Willem says, “My goal in knife-making is to improve my skills on every knife I make.  I endeavor to learn as much as I can from other knife–makers that have the same interests as I have.”

The laws of knife carry in South Africa are very strict, not allowing for any mechanism whatsoever to be used to “assist” the blade open, not a hole, not a stud, not a disk.  So the Knife Makers from that country have used their ingenuity to create a unique way of creating a Liner Lock that can be opened one handed.  

This is Willem’s version of that Liner Lock.  Note the extended Tang area on the right hand side of the knife. 

This knife will be especially useful to any person living in a location that frowns on blades over 3″.

The blade has a slightly raised area on the spine that has hand fileworked ridges, these act as Thumb Ridges to help secure your grip but they also have a double purpose of helping your thumb find purchase when you use it to open the blade.  

The blade has a two Tone finish, the flats are Polished and the Bevels are Satin Finished.  The action is super smooth, it locks open early and securely and makes this slim folder a good choice for any all around cutting chore.  

The handle material is a tough Layered and Milled G-10, the shape of the handle is very hand filling and comfortable. 

The Titanium Low Rider pocket clip has been Glass Bead Blasted.
