Fort Henry Custom Knives has worked with Shosui Takeda Smithy for over a decade
The Smithy was founded in 1920 and moved to Niimi in 1951 to produce hand-forged blades and tools such as kitchen knives, hoes, hatchets, etc. A third generation master blacksmith, Shosui Takeda specializes in hand forging blades from the highest quality carbon steel, New Aogami Super Steel (NAS). The blades are marked with “NAS”, forged entirely by hand, as it has been done for generations. Each blade holds its edge extraordinarily well and resharpens easily.
Takeda is now so popular that he has a 2 YEAR backlog of Orders
Master Takeda hand forged this Large Drop Point blade from his famous Aogami Super Steel and passed the completed blade to A. Moriya, this is the traditional way fine Japanese Swords were created for centuries, one master for each craft.
Moriya added the robust, Single Piece “Birdseye” Maple Burlwood handle and the Nickel Silver Guard. The handle provides a Full Grip ~ generous in size and has wonderful custom contouring.
A very special collaboration knife from these two craftsmen.
Takeda’s Signature is hand stamped into the blade, along with the NAS for NEW Aogami Super Steel designation. The Blade is .150 Thick and has an Expert Heat Treat and beautiful Lamination Line in the Steel (showing the Hardness gradient of the Razor Sharp Super Steel Edge) is clearly visible on the blade. The blade is hand sharpened to razor like sharpness on increasing grits of Natural Japanese Waterstones.
Moriya also did a great job on the thick Custom RH Leather Belt sheath.
The sheath has a thick Welt and a new Feature of a Wooden Liner inside the Leather for even more protection.
This knife will stand as a legacy to the Skill of these Craftsman for generations.
This is an exceptional value for one of Takeda’s Hand Forged Hunters with a Custom Handle.
