JD van Deventer
I was very fortunate to begin working with several South African Knife Makers many years ago, I am continually impressed with the Quality of their knives and the value they offer. In my journey as a knife dealer several SA Makers have introduced me to other SA Makers and the list of quality knives that I sell from that country continues to grow.
The newest addition to my website is South African Knife Makers Guild member Johann van Deventer. His work has been featured in SA magazines devoted to Hunting but recently he has also worked hard at making folding knives of various kinds.
Fort Henry Custom Knives is proud to be a Dealer for Johann van Deventer
Direct from the Maker from the Blade Show
The laws of knife carry in South Africa are very strict, not allowing for any mechanism whatsoever to be used to “assist” the blade open, not a hole, not a stud, not a disk. So the Knife Makers from that country have used their ingenuity to create a unique way of creating a Liner Lock that can be opened one handed.
Here is a Video by the Maker showing how to open his Liner Lock One Handed as quickly as any Automatic
This is J.D.’s version of that type of Liner Lock.
This knife is the perfect size for EDC. The Clip Point blade was hand ground from tough N690 Stainless steel. The unique handle material is a special Diamond Wood .
Johann has added a Titanium Backspacer over the strong Titanium Liner. The Thumb Ridges on the spine of the blade is what allows the user to open the blade one handed!
The blade opens very smoothly and I have personally seen JD open this type of blade one handed as quickly as any Automatic! The Lock up is spot on and releases smoothly.
Complete with a Felt Storage Pouch and a Color Certificate of Authenticity signed by the Maker.
A quality knife at a great price, direct from the Maker.
