  I have been a Dealer for Herb Derr Custom knives for over a decade, long before I had a website I sold Herb’s knives at Gun & Knife Shows, most often to repeat Customers.  Herb’s pieces are sole authorship ~ he forges his own Damascus, grinds his own blades, makes his own Leather Sheaths and still finds time to Teach courses at a Community College on how to make Damascus.

  Here is another Sole Authorship piece from Herb, it is a beautiful Straight Spine blade with an upswept tip, Herb forged with his rare Flowing Water Mosaic Damascus.  This is a knife with artistic attributes, but I guarantee it will perform as good as it looks.  

  Herb explained that this particular high contrast Carbon Damascus blade is over 3,000 layers thick.  Superb Grinds and you can see the turbulent  “White Water” appearance in the flowing damascus. 

The knife has a generous Full Grip handle of Stabilized Zebra Shin Bone.  An expensive rare handle material that I have never seen on one of Herb’s Knives.  It has beautiful color and very dramatic grain! 

The rich colored handle is flanked by Nickel Silver Spacers and a Stabilized Box Elder Burl forward spacer for color.  

On this knife Herb has also added some Vine Filework on almost the entire length of the Spine which looks great but serves a dual purpose of also replacing Thumb Ridges for grip enhancement. 

 The Heavy Leather sheath has African Ostrich Skin as the inlay.  Herb also added some Custom Tooling around the mouth of the Sheath. Nice snug fit and a wonderful compliment to the knife.
