  I have been a Dealer for Herb Derr Custom knives for over a decade, long before I had a website I sold Herb’s knives at Knife Shows and Gun Shows, often to repeat Customers.  Herb’s pieces are sole authorship ~ he forges his own Damascus, grinds his own blades, makes his own Leather Sheaths and still finds time to Teach courses at a Community College on how to make Damascus.

 This knife was my First Choice from Herb’s table at the recent NYCKS ~ I immediately realized it was a rare piece and Herb confirmed that he has made only three in all the years of his craft.

Herb’s classic Hand Forged Birds Eye Damascus is over 2,500 layers thick and he has Forged and Ground this into a long Clip Point shaped blade.  Crisp clear Damascus pattern due to the expert Etch that Herb did on the blade.  But the big beautiful Crown Stag handle is what sets this knife apart.    

 The beautiful single piece Sambar Crown Stag has dark gnarly grain and it is flanked by Nickel Silver Spacers and a thick Stabilized Black Palm spacer for color.  The handle is generous in size and feels wonderful to hold. 

On this knife Herb has also added some Vine Filework on the Spine which looks great but has a dual purpose of also replacing Thumb Ridges for grip enhancement. 

  The Heavy Leather RH Belt sheath, has exotic Snake Skin inlay.
