  I have been a Dealer for Herb Derr Custom knives for over a decade, long before I had a website I sold Herb’s knives at Gun & Knife Shows, most often to repeat Customers.  Herb’s pieces are sole authorship ~ he forges his own Damascus, grinds his own blades, makes his own Leather Sheaths and still finds time to Teach courses at a Community College on how to make Damascus.

  Here is another Sole Authorship piece from Herb, he Forged it with a straight Spine blade and a Wide Drop Point tip in some of his best Bird’s Eye Damascus.  This is a knife with artistic attributes, but I guarantee it will perform as good as it looks.  

  Herb explained that his high contrast Carbon Damascus blades have over 2,500 layers. The blade on this tough Skinner is 1  1/4″ Wide!

The knife has a comfortable Full Grip handle of Fossilized Walrus Jaw Bone – best suited for a Small to Medium Grip.  This handle is smooth and fills the hand very comfortably. 

In this pic you can actually see the unique colored areas of Natural Ancient Deposits in the Fossilized Bone.  

On this knife Herb has also added some Vine Filework on almost the entire length of the Spine which looks great but serves a dual purpose of also replacing Thumb Ridges for grip enhancement. 

The rich colored handle is flanked by Nickel Silver Spacers and a Stabilized Spalted Maple forward spacer with incredible Grain!

 The Heavy Leather sheath has an African Ostrich Leg Skin as the inlay.  Herb also added some Custom Tooling around the mouth of the Sheath. Nice snug fit and a wonderful compliment to the knife.
