Shosui Takeda Blacksmith
Fort Henry Custom Knives is proud to be a direct Dealer with Shosui Takeda
I have admired Shosui Takedas knives for many years. The Takeda Smithy was founded in 1920 and moved to Niimi in 1951. They produce hand-forged blades and tools such as kitchen knives, hunting knives, hoes, hatchets, etc. A third generation master blacksmith, Shosui Takeda specializes in hand forging blades from the highest quality carbon steel, Aogami Super Steel, which has added Vanadium.
The new blades are now Clad in Stainless and marked with “NAS” and Takeda’s Signature, all forged entirely by hand, as it has been done for generations. Each blade holds its edge extraordinarily well and resharpens easily.
Due to the overwhelming popularity of his Custom Kitchen cutlery, Master Takeda no longer offers the Seiryu model
This is a traditional Seiryu Japanese Hunting knife in the Kuro-Uchi style finish. Master Takeda hand forged the Aogami Super Steel blade in the popular American Drop Point profile. Takeda then passed the blade to another Master who completed the traditional Japanese handling process. This is the way that Japanese Swords and knives have been made for centuries.
The Wooden handle is Cord Wrapped and the Cord and Hard Wood handle are coated with a waterproof Resin.
The knife also has a hand worked Iron Ferrule.
Takeda’s Signature and NAS are hand stamped into every blade. This is one of the larger Seiryu that Takeda makes, the blade is 12CM (approx 5″ long and 1 1/4″ Wide).
The beautiful Hamon is clearly visible and the Large Leaf Shaped Blade is hand sharpened by Takeda on Japanese Waterstones to a laser sharp edge.
This knife comes complete with a snug fitting, thick Vegetable Tanned Right Hand Leather belt sheath.
This knife will appeal to anyone who values true hand made tools with a rich history.
Takeda No longer produces these knives.
Previously owned but never used, carried or sharpened.
