Shosui Takeda Blacksmith

Fort Henry Custom Knives is proud to be a direct Dealer with Shosui Takeda.

~ Direct from the Maker ~

I have admired Shosui Takedas knives for many years.  The Takeda Smithy was founded in 1920 and moved to Niimi in 1951. They produce hand-forged blades and tools such as kitchen knives, hunting knives, hoes, hatchets, etc. A third generation master blacksmith, Shosui Takeda specializes in hand forging blades from the highest quality carbon steel, Aogami Super Steel, which has added Vanadium. The new blades are now Clad in Stainless and marked with “NAS” and Takeda’s Signature, all forged entirely by hand, as it has been done for generations. Each blade holds its edge extraordinarily well and resharpens easily.

~ Direct from the Maker ~

This is a one of Takeda’s traditional Seiryu Japanese Hunting knives in a Limited Edition Linen Wrapped handle. Master Takeda hand forged the Aogami Super Steel blade in the Traditional Kuro-uchi Finish.

Takeda passes the blade to another Master who completes the traditional Japanese handling process. This is the way that Japanese Swords and knives have been made for centuries.

This Special Limited Edition Laquer Linen Wrapped Handle was made Exclusively for The Fort – Only 1 of each Size was made!

The Thick Wooden handle was Wrapped in Multiple Layers of Hand Made Linen material with Lacquer Coating on each layer.   This material provides a naturally Grippy texture that will repel Moisture, Oils and other contaminants.

Takeda’s Signature and the letters NAS are hand stamped into every blade. The blade is thick and tough ~ the Width will vary from 1 1/8″ to 1  3/4″ Wide (depending on Blade Length).
