Shosui Takeda Blacksmith
Fort Henry Custom Knives is proud to be a direct Dealer with Shosui Takeda
This knife comes from a very large, Hand Selected collection of a great Customer of mine who recently passed away. This collection contains many knives from Makers / Brands that I do not normally carry – I will list them all as time allows.
This particular knife was purchased directly from me and has never been used, carried or sharpened.
I have admired Takeda’s knives for many years. Takeda Smithy was founded in 1920 and moved to Niimi in 1951 to produce hand-forged blades and tools such as kitchen knives, hoes, hatchets, etc. A third generation master blacksmith, Shosui Takeda specializes in hand forging blades from the highest quality carbon steel, NEW Aogami Super Steel (NAS). The blades are marked with his new “NAS”, forged entirely by hand, as it has been done for generations. Each blade holds its edge extraordinarily well and resharpens easily.
Master Takeda hand forged this Large Drop Point blade from his famous Aogami Super Steel and passed the completed blade to K. Moriya, this is the traditional way fine Japanese Swords were created for centuries, one master for each craft.
Moriya added the gorgeous, Single Piece Presentation Grade Ironwood handle and the Nickel Silver Guard. The handle is Large enough to Fit a Full Grip on the Handle with a Custom Birds Beak Butt. It has wonderful custom contouring ~ very comfortable.
This knife is amazing in quality ~ the Blade is slightly thicker than 1/8″ ~ Takeda has changed to using his new NAS (which is a Stainless Clad Super Steel).
The blade is hand sharpened to razor like sharpness on increasing grits of Natural Japanese Waterstones. Easy to carry and guaranteed to cut like a laser.
Moriya also did an amazing job on the thick Custom Leather Belt sheath. Wet Molded to the knife, the knife locks into place when inserted into the sheath!
A very special collaboration knife from these two craftsmen.
This knife will stand as a legacy to the Skill of these Craftsman for generations.
Previously Owned but never used, carried or sharpened
