The Takeda Smithy was founded in 1920 and moved to Niimi Japan in 1951. They produce hand-forged blades and tools such as kitchen knives, hunting knives, hoes, hatchets, etc. A Third Generation Master Blacksmith, Shosui Takeda specializes in hand forging blades from the highest quality carbon steel, Aogami Super Steel (NAS), which has added Vanadium. The blades are marked with Takeda’s Signature, all forged entirely by hand, as it has been done for generations. Each blade holds its edge extraordinarily well and resharpens easily.

HERE is a wonderful Article about Master Takeda and his work

Another traditional Japanese kitchen knife from Master Takeda – a traditional KoDeba in the Kuro-Uchi style finish. The KoDeba is a very Tough Smaller style of knife used mostly for Meat preparation and Frozen Chicken and excels at filleting Fish, Cutting into crabs or chicken bones. Stronger and more Robust than a Petit but with the same Razor Sharp edge.

Master Takeda Hand Forged the Stainless Clad – Aogami Super Steel blade which is a very respectable thickness ~ between 1/8″ and 3/16″ thickapprox 4  1/4″ long (11cm).

Takeda passes his blades to another Master who completed the traditional Japanese handling process. This is the way that Japanese Swords and knives have been made for centuries. The Natural Hard wood handle is custom contoured in an Octagon pattern.

Takeda’s Signature is hand stamped into every blade along with the NAS which stands for New Aogami Super Steel designation.

The Nakago (or Tang) is sealed with a Natural Waterproof Resin.

The Hamon on this Takeda KoDeba is clearly visible and the blade is hand sharpened on increasing grits of natural Japanese Waterstones by Takeda to an amazing laser sharp edge.

The Takeda KoDeba comes complete in a Presentation Box with the Name of the knife indicated on the front.

This knife will appeal to anyone who values true hand made tools with a rich history.

An incredible value for a Hand Forged Blade of this size and quality.

Takeda produces a number of these models so there may be some slight variation in blade finish, handle material grain, or presentation box.
