RUDY RUANA
This design is over 100 years old ~ the knife itself is from my personal Ruana collection. At one time I had accumulated more than 80 Ruana knives, I have decided to offer my collection here for those that appreciate history and Rudy’s work as one of the Founding Fathers of American Custom Knife making.
Fort Henry Custom Knives
This is an early Rudy Ruana knife ~ Model 19B ~ Forged by Rudy
This blade was Hand Forged and Hand Ground on the same equipment that Rudy used throughout his life. This example has a 5″ “Bananna Skinner” Blade that was Hand Forged and Hand Ground by Rudy.
This knife also has a the R. H. Ruana – Bonner Montana and a “M” Stamp. Rudy crafted the majority of his knives with Thick Elk Antler handle inserts to insure a Hand Filling Grip. The Thick Elk Antler on this knife has been comfortably contoured. Still tight in the handle with very little shrinkage. The Pins even still bear the marks from Rudy’s Ball Peen hammer.
The 19B was one of Rudy’s most interesting Skinner designs. The wide Skinning blade is 1 1/2″ wide with a Forged Custom Shape. Never cleaned or altered, just an honest Original Ruana made by one of the Founding Fathers of Custom Knife Making.
Complete with the Original, Smooth Back, Right Hand Leather Belt Sheath.
