 I was very fortunate to begin working with several South African Knife Makers many years ago, I am continually impressed with the Quality of their knives and the value they offer.  In my journey as a knife dealer several SA Makers have introduced me to other SA Makers and the list of quality knives that I sell from that country continues to grow.  

The newest addition to my website is South African Knife Makers Guild member Johann van Deventer.  His work has been featured in SA magazines devoted to Hunting but recently he has also worked hard at making folding knives of various kinds.

 I picked up this lovely knife off Johann’s table and immediately fell in love, it is extremely light for its size (due to the skeletonized handle) and is impeccable in fit and finish.  

The South African Water Buffalo Horn handle is a deep Midnight Black with a dark iridescent quality that can only be appreciated up close.  Like looking into a crystal ball, when viewed in the right light the natural lighter veins of the Horn come to life, like any quality horn this material has a beautiful polished surface that warms to the touch.  A very comfortable hand filling design. 

The Razor Sharp personal sized blade was hand ground from Bohler Uddeholm M-310 Stainless steel.  This steel is a very clean Austrian steel with a nice amount of Chromium to make it nearly maintenance free, the Satin finish will allow the knife to be used and still look new.     

Johann has applied some contoured Thumb Ridges to the spine, very comfortable. Thin Yellow Liners help to accent the dark natural beauty of the horn. The shape and size of the handle allows for a full grip and the Thumb Ridges help enhance the security of the feel. 

Provided with a thick Left Hand Leather Belt Sheath, the knife fits deep and securely, no chance of the knife accidentally falling out.  

Complete with a Color Certificate of Authenticity, signed by the Maker.  A quality package direct from the Maker.
