Fort Henry Custom Knives is proud to be a Dealer for Shosui Takeda
~ Direct from the Maker ~
I have worked with Shosui Takeda for almost a decade. The Takeda Smithy was founded in 1920 and moved to Niimi in 1951. They produce Hand-Forged blades and tools such as kitchen knives, hunting knives, hoes, hatchets, etc. A Third Generation Master Blacksmith, Shosui Takeda specializes in hand forging blades from the highest quality carbon steel, Aogami Super Steel (AS), which has added Vanadium. His blades are marked with “NAS” and Takeda’s Signature, all forged entirely by hand, as it has been done for generations. Each blade holds its edge extraordinarily well and resharpens easily.
~ Just Received – Direct from the Maker ~
Due to Takeda’s World Wide popularity, his Backlog is now Over Two Years!
This is a wonderful Traditional Japanese kitchen knife from Master Takeda – he explained to me that this is a style that he only makes a few of each year. The Ko-Sasa is a blend of a traditional Yanagiba and a shortened height Gyuto.
Forged with a Kuro-Uchi style finish from Takeda’s Stainless Clad Aogami Super Steel. The Ko-Sasa is a versatile light weight knife, with plenty of Razor sharp cutting edge.
Master Takeda Hand Forged the Aogami Super Steel blade which is approx. 6 1/2″ long (165 mm) and a full 1 5/8″ Wide! This beautiful blade has a full length Lamination Line indicating the hard edge that has a Rockwell of 64 ~ necessary for superior performance! The Blade is Forged very thin for fine cutting control.
Takeda passes his blades to another Master who completes the Traditional Japanese handling process. This is the way that Japanese Swords and knives have been made for centuries. The Natural Maple handle is Custom Contoured in a Traditional WA shaped Octagon.
The Nakago (or Tang) is sealed with a Natural Waterproof Resin.
Takeda’s Signature is hand stamped into every blade along with the NAS for his NEW Aogami Super Steel designation.
The Lamination Line is clearly visible and the blade is hand sharpened on increasing grits of Natural Japanese Waterstones by Takeda to an amazing Laser Sharp edge.
This knife comes complete with Care Sheet, Business Card and in a Presentation Box with the Name of the Maker and the knife indicated on the front.
This knife will appeal to anyone who values true hand made tools with a rich history.
Due to Takeda’s backlog, One this knife is Sold it will be many Months before I get another.
