  I have been a Dealer for Herb Derr Custom knives for over a decade, long before I had a website I sold Herb’s knives at Gun & Knife Shows, most often to repeat Customers.  Herb’s pieces are sole authorship ~ he forges his own Damascus, grinds his own blades, makes his own Leather Sheaths and still finds time to Teach courses at a Community College on how to make Damascus.

I simply cannot keep Herb’s knives In Stock for long, they are renowned for their performance and the price for the artistic quality of the knife just cannot be beat! 

  Here is a very unique Personal Sized Hunter from Herb.  It has his Sole Authorship Ladderback Damascus. This is a great looking knife knife with artistic attributes, but I guarantee it will perform as good as it looks.  

  Herb explained that his high contrast Ladder back Carbon Damascus blades have over 2,500 layers. The knife has a generous Full Grip handle of South African Trophy Warthog Tusk that has beautiful natural color variation, reminds me of a pistol grip.  Herb has added some subtle Stipling to the natural grooves of the handle to help prevent slippage during use. 

The handle is flanked by Nickel Silver Spacers and a Stabilized Box Elder Burl forward spacer which adds a splash of color to the knife.

On this knife Herb has also added some Vine Filework on almost the entire length of the Spine which looks great but serves a dual purpose of also replacing Thumb Ridges for grip enhancement. 

  The Heavy Leather RH Belt sheath has an exotic South African Lizard Skin inlay along with Custom Tooling around the mouth of the Sheath. Nice snug fit and a wonderful compliment to the knife.
