I have been a Dealer for Herb Derr Custom knives for over a decade, long before I had a website I sold Herb’s knives at Gun & Knife Shows, most often to repeat Customers. Herb’s pieces are sole authorship ~ he forges his own Damascus, grinds his own blades, makes his own Leather Sheaths and still finds time to Teach courses at a Community College on how to make Damascus.

Here is another Sole Authorship piece from Herb, it is his Long Hunter that he has forged with his Rare Random Pattern Damascus. This is a knife with artistic attributes, but I guarantee it will perform as good as it looks.
The knife has a generous Full Grip handle of Fossilized Walrus Jaw Bone. A very unique material with Comfortable Natural Curves that was thousands of years in the making!
This particular example is Rich in Natural Color due to the Deposits of Minerals, some of the Ancient Walrus Tooth Cavity is still in the handle.
On this knife Herb has also added some Vine Filework on almost the entire length of the Spine which looks great but serves a dual purpose of also replacing Thumb Ridges for grip enhancement.
Herb explained that this particular high contrast Carbon Damascus blade is over 3,000 layers thick.
The Beautiful handle is flanked by Nickel Silver Spacers and a Stabilized Spalted Maple forward spacer for color.
The Heavy Leather sheath has the Ostrich Skin as the inlay.
