  I have been a Dealer for Herb Derr Custom knives for over a decade, long before I had a website I sold Herb’s knives at Knife Shows and Gun Shows, often to repeat Customers.  Herb’s pieces are sole authorship ~ he forges his own Damascus, grinds his own blades, makes his own Leather Sheaths and still finds time to Teach courses at a Community College on how to make Damascus.

  I hand picked this beautiful hunter from Herb’s Table, it has a couple of very unique features.  

First, it has Herb’s unique Mosaic Damascus ~ one of only three knives he brought to the Show with this type of Damascus, knowing how rare they are I purchased them all!  

  Herb’s Mosaic High Carbon Damascus is over 2,500 layers thick.  The beautiful Sambar Stag handle has dark gnarly grain and it is flanked by Nickel Silver Spacers and a thick Stabilized Black Palm spacer for color.  

On this knife Herb has also added some Vine Filework on the Spine which looks great but has a dual purpose of also replacing Thumb Ridges for grip enhancement. 

  The second unique feature is on the Heavy Leather RH Belt sheath, Herb used the Skin of an Australian Cane Toad as the inlay.  This is the second time I have seen him use this material!  

The Cane Toad is a prolific poisonous Pest ravaging the Australian Continent – read the entire history HERE   Herb also added some Custom Tooling around the mouth of the Sheath. Nice snug fit and a wonderful compliment to the knife.
