  I have been a Dealer for Herb Derr Custom knives for over a decade, long before I had a website I sold Herb’s knives at Gun & Knife Shows, most often to repeat Customers.  Herb’s pieces are sole authorship ~ he forges his own Damascus, grinds his own blades, makes his own Leather Sheaths and still finds time to Teach courses at a Community College on how to make Damascus.

It has been 2 Years since I had this Model from Herb 

  Here is rare Sole Authorship piece from Herb, it has a thick, Straight Spine with a big Bullnose tip. Herb forged this with some of his best Bird’s Eye Damascus.  

  Herb explained that his high contrast Carbon Damascus blades have over 2,500 layers. The blade on this big Skinner is 1  1/4″ Wide!

Herb has only made a few Bullnose Skinners, this example has en excellent sized Handle ~ comfortable Full Grip of Fossilized Stellar Sea Cow Rib Bone ~ HERE is a link to some information on the extinct Stellar Sea Cow. A very unique material.

This size handle is best suited for a Medium to Large Grip. 

The rich colored handle is flanked by Nickel Silver Spacers and a beautiful Stabilized Box Elder Burl forward spacer for color.  

On this knife Herb has also added some Vine Filework on almost the entire length of the Spine which looks great but serves a dual purpose of also replacing Thumb Ridges for grip enhancement. 

This is a knife with artistic attributes, but I guarantee it will perform as good as it looks.  

 The Heavy Leather sheath has African Ostrich Leg Skin as the inlay.  Herb also added some Custom Tooling around the mouth of the Sheath. Nice snug fit and a wonderful compliment to the knife.
