I have been a Dealer for Herb Derr Custom knives for over a decade, long before I had a website I sold Herb’s knives at Knife Shows and Gun Shows, often to repeat Customers. Herb’s pieces are sole authorship ~ he forges his own Damascus, grinds his own blades, makes his own Leather Sheaths and still finds time to Teach courses at a Community College on how to make Damascus.

I was Herb’s First Customer at the Show this year and I hand picked the best from his Table.
This special knife has Herb’s NEW Hand Forged ~ High Carbon Twist Pattern Damascus that is over 2,500 layers thick and a Unique Fossilized Stellar Sea Cow Rib Bone handle. This material is very Dense and has beautiful Natural deposits of color ~ HERE is a link to some information on the Extinct Stellar Sea Cow.
If you look closely near the Guard you can just make out Herb’s Makers Mark Stamp.
This beautiful Handle Material has Wonderful, Rich Natural Mineral Deposits that create a One of Kind Grain and a wonderful swell from the Mid Line to the back that fills the hand nicely! The Rib Bone is flanked by Nickel Silver Spacers and a thick Stabilized Buckeye Burl spacer for color.
On this knife Herb has also added some Vine Filework on the Spine which looks great but has a dual purpose of also replacing Thumb Ridges for grip enhancement.
A beautiful knife with some great handle material that is almost gone from today’s market.
The Heavy Leather RH Belt sheath has an African Ostrich Skin inlay. The knife rides snug and deep to prevent loss.
