Herb’s pieces are sole authorship ~ he forges his own Damascus, grinds his own blades, makes his own Leather Sheaths and still finds time to Teach courses at a Community College on how to make Damascus.

Here is a larger Herb Derr Clip Point Hunter that has his high contrast Sole Authorship Birds Eye Damascus. This is a great looking knife with artistic attributes, but I guarantee it will perform as good as it looks.
Herb explained that his high contrast Birds Eye Carbon Damascus blades have over 2,500 layers. Herb has expertly Forged this bold Birdseye Pattern, and it is repeated throughout the steel so it is similar on both sides.
This handle material was Thousands of Years in the making. This Fossilized Stellar Sea Cow Bone handle has rich color and beautiful natural grain. HERE is a link to some information on the extinct Stellar Sea Cow. The Handle material is flanked by Nickel Silver Spacers and a Stabilized Spalted Maple spacer for color.
This size handle would best be suited for a Medium to Large Grip.
On this Derr Clip Point, Herb has also added some Vine Filework on almost the entire length of the Spine which looks great but serves a dual purpose of also replacing Thumb Ridges for grip enhancement.
The Heavy Leather RH Leather Belt sheath has Lizzard Skin as the inlay. Herb also added some Custom Tooling around the mouth of the Sheath. Deep, snug fit and a wonderful compliment to the knife.
