I have been a Dealer for Herb Derr Custom knives for over a decade, long before I had a website I sold Herb’s knives at Gun & Knife Shows, most often to repeat Customers. Herb’s pieces are sole authorship ~ he forges his own Damascus, grinds his own blades, makes his own Leather Sheaths and still finds time to Teach courses at a Community College on how to make Damascus.

Here is beautiful Sole Authorship piece from Herb, it is a Custom Long Hunter that he Hand Forged with his Birds Eye Pattern Damascus. This is a knife with artistic attributes, but I guarantee it will perform as good as it looks.
Herb explained that his High Contrast – High Carbon Damascus blades have over 2,500 layers. This one is Especially Striking due to the beautiful & intricate Birds Eye Pattern.
This Herb Derr Long Hunter has a Full Grip handle from a single THICK piece of Sambar Stag. Since the embargo on the Exportation of Indian Sambar Stag more than a decade ago, a piece of this size and quality is Rare!
The Handle material on this Derr Long Hunter is flanked by Nickel Silver Spacers and a Stabilized Maple Burl Spacer for color.
On this knife Herb has also added some Vine Filework on almost the entire length of the Spine which looks great but serves a dual purpose of also replacing Thumb Ridges for grip enhancement.
This is a Large Rugged blade that could easily crossover to a Camp Knife should he need arise. Hand Made by an Ol Time Master of The Forge.
The Heavy Leather sheath has an Lizard Skin as the inlay.
Herb also added some Custom Tooling around the mouth of the Sheath. Deep, snug fit and a wonderful compliment to the knife. Complete with a Hand Written COA
