Herb’s pieces are sole authorship ~ he forges his own Damascus, grinds his own blades, makes his own Leather Sheaths and still finds time to Teach courses at a Community College on how to make Damascus.

Here is a Robust Herb Derr Custom Drop Point from Herb. Hand Crafted from high contrast Sole Authorship Birds Eye Damascus. This is a great looking knife knife with artistic attributes, but I guarantee it will perform as good as it looks.
Herb explained to me that his High Carbon Damascus Steel Blades are Hand Forged to have over 2,500 Layers. Herb has expertly Forged this bold Birdseye Pattern, and it is repeated throughout the steel so it is similar on both sides.
This handle material is Rare on any knife ~ it was Crafted from an Extra Large South African Gemsbok Antler.
Gemsbok Horn is very dense and has beautiful Natural Spiral Ridges that work alternately as Finger Grooves ~ HERE is a link to some information on this majestic animal.
The Handle material is flanked by Nickel Silver Spacers and a Stabilized Maple Burl spacer for color. This Size Handle would best be suited for a Medium to Large Grip.
This Derr Drop Point has some unique Filework on the Spine, this would do double duty as Thumb Ridges if you choke up on the blade.
This is a truly great piece from Herb and it would be among the best of any Derr or Damascus Collection.
The Heavy Leather RH Belt sheath has a Ostrich Leg Skin inlay along with Custom Tooling around the mouth of the Sheath. Nice snug fit and a wonderful compliment to the knife.
