  I have been a Dealer for Herb Derr Custom knives for over a decade, long before I had a website I sold Herb’s knives at Knife Shows and Gun Shows, often to repeat Customers.  Herb’s pieces are sole authorship ~ he forges his own Damascus, grinds his own blades, makes his own Leather Sheaths and still finds time to Teach courses at a Community College on how to make Damascus.

  I was Herb’s First Customer at the recent ECCK Show and I hand picked the best from his Table.  This was the ONLY knife he brought that had African Impala Horn for the Handle! 

I have NEVER FEATURED a knife made by Herb with this Rare and Exotic Handle Material!  The Impala is native to the Grass Lands and Savanahs of Africa.  They can leap 10 Feet High and as as far as 33 Feet in one jump. The Males Spiral horns can grow to be 36″ High.

   This special knife has Herb’s High Carbon Birds Eye Damascus that is over 2,500 layers thick and it has a very unique Color and Etch due to the Folding and Quenching of the Steel!

The gorgeous African Impala Horn Handle has dark gnarly Ridges that Herb has positioned to as a Finger Grooves ~ the handle fills the hand nicely!  

The Horn is flanked by Nickel Silver Spacers and a thick Stabilized Maple Burl spacer for color.  

On this knife Herb has also added some Vine Filework on the Spine which looks great but has a dual purpose of also replacing Thumb Ridges for grip enhancement. 

A beautiful knife with some very unusual materials. 

  The Heavy Leather RH Belt sheath has a African Ostrich Leg Skin inlay.  The knife rides snug and deep to prevent loss.
