JD van Deventer
I was very fortunate to begin working with several South African Knife Makers many years ago, I am continually impressed with the Quality of their knives and the value they offer. In my journey as a knife dealer several SA Makers have introduced me to other SA Makers and the list of quality knives that I sell from that country continues to grow.
The newest addition to my website is South African Knife Makers Guild member Johann van Deventer. His work has been featured in SA magazines devoted to Hunting but recently he has also worked hard at making folding knives of various kinds.
Fort Henry Custom Knives is proud to be a Dealer for JD van Deventer Knives
Direct from the Maker from the Blade Show 2013
A Friction Folder is the oldest Folding knife design in existance, examples of Friction Folders have recently been found in the ruins of Ancient Roman dwellings.
This quality knife will appeal to anyone who lives in a place where a Locking knife is frowned upon and/or a blade greater than 3″ can draw too much interest.
This knife is the perfect EDC size. The blade was hand ground from Bohler Uddeholm N690 Stainless steel. This steel is a very clean Austrian steel with a nice amount of Chromium to make it nearly maintenance free. The Flats are High Polish and the Bevels are Satin, this will allow the knife to be used and still look new, very smooth action.
The unique handles were hand made by JD. The material is Combo Layered Camo – JD Custom milled the material to give it a deep Traction surface to help insure a good grip. Also, the perimeter edges have all been chamfered for a very comfortable grip.
Johann has applied some contoured Thumb Ridges to the spine of the Extended Tang, very comfortable. The Stick Tang is completely recessed into the handle when open for a comfortable full handle grip.
A quality knife at a great price, direct from the Maker.
Complete with a Felt Slip Pouch.
