I was very fortunate to begin working with several South African Knife Makers many years ago, I am continually impressed with the Quality of their knives and the value they offer. In my journey as a knife dealer several SA Makers have introduced me to other SA Makers and the list of quality knives that I sell from that country continues to grow.
South African Knife Makers Guild member Johann van Deventer’s work has been featured in SA magazines devoted to Hunting but recently he has also worked hard at making folding knives of various kinds.

This is a wonderful New Model from JD ~ this is the Silver Front Flipper!
This is one of the Best Flippers that I have had from JD. The Hand Rubbed M390 blade flips open absolutely effortlessly due to the IKBS system and JD’s Precision Balance on the blade. It features Silver Lightening Strike Carbon Fiber Inlays into the Uniform Carbon Fiber scales with Milled Zirconium Pivots Collars and a beautiful Spear Point blade with a Labor Intensive Hand Rubbed Finish.
Fully contoured Carbon Fiber handles, precision fit to the Titanium Frame – only the best materials for this elegant Flipper!
The Custom Zirconium Pivot Collars complement the Lightening Strike Carbon Fiber handles.
The Thick Titanium Frame on this Van Deventer Silver Front Flipper locks up Early and Extremely secure.
Johann has also added a Half Length Carbon Fiber Backspacer for extra Strength.
The blade opens as Fast as Lightning and the Lock up is spot on and releases smoothly. This knife has a very unique appearance – very few of these have hit the market. The Custom Pocket Clip is set for Deep, Discreet Tip Up carry.
