I’m pleased to offer this distinctive creation from Darriel Caston! This is a Hand Built Prototype of the New Vaultlock Boxcutter that is a collab with Mike Hogarty and Callye Keen. This project is currently on hold as Darriel looks for a shop that can handle the production build so this Item is Truely one of a kind!
The blade Locks in both the Open and Closed Positions. Similiar to a Bank Vault ~ the blade is Deployed by First Rotating the Tri Vault Lockin mechanism in a Clock Wise Direction, this allows the Blade to then slide smoothly forward out of the frame.
Once fully extended, the Blade again Locks into position.
The Blade has a Custom Two Tone Finish, the Flats are Satin and the Flat Ground Bevels have a Labor Intensive Vertical Hand Rubbed finish.
The Front Edge of the Blade IS Sharpened, with a Convex Grind on the Tip it would certainly do well for Fine Scraping or slicing.
There are many subtle customized features of this design that might go un-noticed, but are useful just the same. Such as the aligned Jimping on each side of the the frame ~ when the blade is open this provides extra retention.
The Thick Titanium Frame was Blasted and Tumbled for a Tough yet attractive finish. In the pic below you can also see the Locking Holes in the Frame, this is is where the Vault Lock Bolts extend ~ locking the blade it both the open and closed positions.
