Bob Dozier – RARE Sisu Hunter – Forged San Mai Blade

For more than 40 years, Bob has continued to try to improve on his work.  This knife represents one of those evolutions.  This is Bob’s Sisu Model Hunter which has a unique, hidden feature.

 The special Blade on this knife is just shy of 3/16″ thick ~ hand crafted of Rare San-Mai / Laminated Blade Steel Forged by Mike Norris.  The Steel has a Dozier D2 Core and a 410 Stainless Exterior Forged together.  This provides superior Stain Resistance with Dozier’s Legendary D2 Cutting Ability. 

You have to rotate the blade in just the right light to see the Lamination Line. 

The Hidden Tang is a Full One-Half inch wide and is completely Heat-Treated to gain the maximum properties that can be had from the steel. A rectangular slot is machined in the handle to perfectly fit the tang. This eliminates the need to fill up the extra space with epoxy. Then just the necessary amount of epoxy, along with a Brass Blind Bolt secure the handle for a lifetime of hard use. 

Through Decades of Experience Bob has refined the Contouring of his handles to be both Secure and Comfortable. This example sports a Beautiful ~ Two Piece Sambar Stag Handle with lovely mellow Color and lots of Gnarly Grain on the Top and Bottom. The Expertly Contoured Stag is seperated by Red & Brass Spacers. 

   The Brass Guard is Expertly Silver Soldered so no moisture has access to inside the handle (this is a difficult process and most Makers do not even attempt this step any longer).

    This Rare Custom adds all the features of Bob’s upscale Classic line ~ built to last a Lifetime. 

Bob spent a week with the late Bob Loveless learning to make and improve on his Leather Sheaths. This knife showcases Bob’s Custom Wet Molded, Shoulder Hide Right Hand Leather Sheath. The Sheath is made with an Interal Welt that Locks onto the Guard ~ this will not allow the knife to accidentally Fall Out ~ even if turned upside down and shaken!

You may spend more, but you will not find a better made sheath than a Dozier Leather Sheath.
