Shosui Takeda Blacksmith
Fort Henry Custom Knives is proud to be a direct Dealer with Shosui Takeda.
Direct from the Maker from the Blade Show 2016
I have admired Shosui Takedas knives for many years. The Takeda Smithy was founded in 1920 and moved to Niimi in 1951. They produce hand-forged blades and tools such as kitchen knives, hunting knives, hoes, hatchets, etc. A third generation master blacksmith, Shosui Takeda specializes in hand forging blades from the highest quality carbon steel, Aogami Super Steel (AS), which has added Vanadium. The blades are marked with “AS” and Takeda’s Signature, all forged entirely by hand, as it has been done for generations. Each blade holds its edge extraordinarily well and resharpens easily.

This is a traditional Japanese utility folding knife, in Pre War Japan all children and adults carried such a knife, this standard blade took care of most tasks.
What we may call a Friction Folder, the Japanese call a Bichu-no-Kami in the Kuro-Uchi style finish.
Master Takeda hand forged the blade for this from his Stainless Clad Aogami Super Steel blade ~ he left the Heat Treat Scale on the exterior to create a Kuro-uchi style finish.
The blade is easily opened using the exposed Tang (that folds back into the handle when open). The action can be adjust easily using a Torx H10 bit.
The Blade was sharpened on increasing grits of natural Japanese Water Stones and thus is Razor Sharp as all of Takeda’s knives normally arrive.
Takeda also crafted the thick Integral Brass handle with 3D carved Accents that the knife folds into.
It includes a thick Leather Pouch sheath which holds the knife snugly.
This knife will appeal to anyone who values true hand made tools with a rich history.
