  I have been a Dealer for Herb Derr Custom knives for over a decade, long before I had a website I sold Herb’s knives at Knife Shows and Gun Shows, often to repeat Customers.  Herb’s pieces are sole authorship ~ he forges his own Damascus, grinds his own blades, makes his own Leather Sheaths and still finds time to Teach courses at a Community College on how to make Damascus.

  I was Herb’s First Customer at the Show this year and I hand picked the best from his Table.

This special knife has Herb’s High Carbon Random Pattern Damascus that is over 2,500 layers thick – Plus a gorgeous Sambar Stag handle.   

It has now been over a Decade since the Exportation Ban of India Sambar Stag has been in effect.  Sambar Stag of this Quality is all but gone from today’s market.

 This beautiful Stag handle has dark gnarly grain and a wonderful swell from the Mid Line to the back that fills the hand nicely!  The Stag is flanked by Nickel Silver Spacers and a thick Stabilized Maple Burl spacer for color.  

On this knife Herb has also added some Vine Filework on the Spine which looks great but has a dual purpose of also replacing Thumb Ridges for grip enhancement. 

A beautiful knife with some great handle material that is almost gone from today’s market. 

  The Heavy Leather RH Belt sheath has an Exotic Lizard Skin inlay.  The knife rides snug and deep to prevent loss. 

Out of curiosity while I was at the Show I priced a Small comparable looking Lizard Skin, it was almost $400 dollars!  Needless to say, this inlay is special.
