  I have been a Dealer for Herb Derr Custom knives for over a decade, long before I had a website I sold Herb’s knives at Knife Shows and Gun Shows, often to repeat Customers.  Herb’s pieces are sole authorship ~ he forges his own Damascus, grinds his own blades, makes his own Leather Sheaths and still finds time to Teach courses at a Community College on how to make Damascus.

  Herb and I have discussed making this Modified Skinner pattern an Exclusive for Fort Henry.  This particular blade is Herb’s special High Contrast Raindrop Damascus, a very tight pattern but when Herb etched this one it revealed a unique copper color that is really striking.  

  Herb’s Hand Forged Carbon Damascus is over 1,200 layers thick. Herb gives back to the knife making community by conducting College Classes on The Art of Making Damascus.  The fossilized Walrus Jaw handle is nicely contoured and has rich colored Natural Deposits.  It also has a beauful multi colored Stabilized Maple burl spacer for a touch of color.  

On the spine of the blade Herb has also added some Vine Filework which looks great but has a dual purpose of also replacing Thumb Ridges for grip enhancement. 

  The Heavy Leather RH Belt sheath has an exotic Lizard skin inlay along with Custom Tooling around the mouth of the Sheath. Nice snug fit and a wonderful compliment to the knife.
