Once in a great while I have time to walk around a Knife Show to see what catches my eye. Even more rare is when I find myself drawn back to a New Makers Table a second or third time. Yet that is exactly what happened at the recent NYCKS I attended.
I introduced myself to Michael Zieba and we began discussing his work. As he described his extensive artistic background and his knife making techniques, I took the time to examine his knives VERY closely. Upon inspection it was easy to see the passion and fine detailed dedication that he put into each of his creations ~ whether it was High End Custom Chef’s knives, exquisite Hand Carved Knife Display Boxes or Hard Use Cutting Tools for Emergency Personnel. I understood Michael’s philosophy, recognized his talent and felt compelled to share his unique creations with my customers.

All of Michael’s knives are crafted one at a time in his shop. Michael recently received a Distinctive Award ~ based in Brooklyn New York, Michael was selected from keen competition by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce as the sole Knife Making Recipient of the “BROOKLYN MADE ~ GOLD” Award

I am proud to feature the Big Brother to Michael’s EDC Hunter that I introduced last year, this is Michael’s Largest Camp Knife that he has ever built!
This knife has a gorgeous appearance but is tough enough for any Camp or Woods Chore. Custom Marked with the “H” for “Hussar Metal Works”
This is a Full Tang Hunter with a Gorgeous Custom Contoured Handle of Dyed Stabilized Buckeye Burl with Custom Black G-10 Liners.
The Handle Scales were cut from the same block so they match perfectly. The handle Swells in the Center and has a slight Flare at the Butt to help keep the handle firmly in your palm. The Burl has tons of character and grain. The Blind Bolts on the Handles are covered with Custom Black Micarta Covers to better match the Buckeye.
As an Artist, Michael likes to incorporate details that you would NOT see on any production knife. The Blade was Hand Ground from Robust 5/32 nds CPM S35VN, an Integral Thumb Ramp. For the finish Michael chose to apply an extremely Labor Intensive Hand Rubbed Finish.
This Big Blade is 1 7/8″ Wide and has a Near Full Height Flat Grind with a Distal Taper and a short custom Swedge allow for Finer Cutting work or assistance in puncture. Michael is a perfectionist and crafted each part of this knife with care and precision.
This knife comes complete in a Custom Fitted Kydex Sheath with the Interior Fully Lined in Felt to protect the Finish of the Blade.
