TED TAYLOR
I love history, I am extremely fond of knives that are made to resemble the tools that Pioneers and Early Americans relied on for every day survival. This genre of knife making takes alot of research and skill with various materials to accomplish successfully and I am always excited to see a Knife Makers’ work who has gotten it just right!
Ted Taylor has been crafting knives for several years and makes everything from Bowies and Fighters to everday working knives, but in my opinion Ted does the Period style especially well. I just received several knives from Ted and I know you will really enjoy seeing his work.
Fort Henry Custom Knives is proud to be a Direct Dealer for Ted Taylor custom knives
Brand New ~ Just Received from the Maker
This is a Sole Ayuthorship Frontier Camp Knife from Ted ~ a Full Tang knife that will perform as good as it looks.
The handle scales are Buffalo Horn that have Colorful, Gnarly Exterior Bark for an Authentic aged appearance. The Nickel Silver Bolsters were also Hammered and Patined to provide a matching texture.
The 1095 Steel blade measures a respectable .180 Thick, it has been Differentially Heat Treated and Clay Quenched to reveal a defined Hamon that shows the Hardness gradiant areas. The blade has a Hand Sanded finish with Forge Hammer Marks on the Flats, and Ted has applied an aged Patina that adds to the visual appeal. This blade will be a great cutter or chopper.
A bit of Custom Filework on the Spine can double as Thumb Ridges if doing close up work.
This wonderful Early American Camp Knife that Ted has created harkens back to a time when a man built his own shelter, shot his own food and needed only one knife for hunting, camping and protection.
The Sheath was also made by Ted, a Thick Right Hand Leather Belt sheath with Double thick Overlay, Brass Buttons and Leather Fringe.
This is just the one of a group of special knives I have received from Ted but it is clearly evident that Ted really captures the true Spirit with his work.
