Shosui Takeda Blacksmith

  Fort Henry Custom Knives is proud to be a direct Dealer with Shosui Takeda.

  Direct from the Maker from the ECCKS 2012

width=400

I have admired Shosui Takedas knives for many years.  The Takeda Smithy was founded in 1920 and moved to Niimi in 1951. They produce hand-forged blades and tools such as kitchen knives, hunting knives, hoes, hatchets, etc. A third generation master blacksmith, Shosui Takeda specializes in hand forging blades from the highest quality carbon steel, Aogami Super Steel (AS), which has added Vanadium. The blades are marked with "AS" and Takeda’s Signature, all forged entirely by hand, as it has been done for generations. Each blade holds its edge extraordinarily well and resharpens easily.

Direct from Maker

This is a stunning example of craftsmanship from Master Takeda and Masao Takahashi.

/

Master Takeda hand forged the elegant blade from Aogami Super Steel blade and left the Forge scale on in the Kuro-uchi style finish. The grind is impeccable, a fine distal taper and absolutely Razor sharp edge.  The Top False edge is unsharpened but helps to reduce the weight.

    /

Takeda then passed his blade to well know Folder Maker Kensei Matsuno who completed the hand work required to create the handle, unique Frame and Liner lock, this is the way that Japanese Swords and knives have been made for centuries.

Opened using either a pinch grip or the Rectangle hole in the blade, this knife has extremely smooth action.  The Sambar Stag is absolutely amazing and well matched!  The handle is very comfortable and the Liner Lock secures early, very secure lock up.

/

   Takeda’s small script Signature is hand stamped into every blade along with the AS for Aogami Super Steel designation. The Hamon is clearly visible and the blade hand sharpened on increasing grits of natural Japanese Waterstones by Takeda to a laser sharp edge.

When the knife is open the integral Blade Guard locks into the handle, once the Liner lock is disengaged the integral Guard pops open for use!  Ingenious!

/

This knife will appeal to anyone who values true hand made tools with a rich history.

An incredible knife from two Masters of their craft.
