Shosui Takeda Blacksmith
Fort Henry Custom Knives is proud to be a direct Dealer with Shosui Takeda.
~ Direct from the Maker from the Blade Show 2015 ~
I have admired Shosui Takedas knives for many years. The Takeda Smithy was founded in 1920 and moved to Niimi in 1951. They produce hand-forged blades and tools such as kitchen knives, hunting knives, hoes, hatchets, etc. A third generation master blacksmith, Shosui Takeda specializes in hand forging blades from the highest quality carbon steel, Aogami Super Steel (AS), which has added Vanadium. The blades are marked with “AS” and Takeda’s Signature, all forged entirely by hand, as it has been done for generations. Each blade holds its edge extraordinarily well and resharpens easily.
This is one of only Three new Linerlock models that Takeda brought to the Blade Show. This is an absolutely beautiful Gentleman’s Folder design from Master Takeda AND this one opens smoothly using the right hand thumb stud!
Master Takeda hand forged the Stainless Clad Aogami Super Steel blade and left the Forge scale on in the traditional Kuro-uchi style finish. The Lamination Line is visible evidence of the Harder Cutting Edge of the Blade against the Stainless Cladding.
Takeda’s small script Signature is hand stamped into every blade along with the NAS for Stainless Aogami Super Steel designation on the back side of this blade. Note the lovely Hand Made Mokume Bolsters that match the Box Elder Burl handle wood!
The Blade was Hand Sharpened on increasing grits of natural Japanese Waterstones by Takeda to a laser sharp edge.
Early, secure Lock up.
The Handle Scales are Gorgeous Matching Box Elder and the Bolsters are Japanese Mokume (a traditional Forged Blend of Copper, Stainless, Brass).
Lightweight Titanium Liners and Stand offs. This knife will appeal to anyone who values true hand made tools.
An incredible value for a smooth, beautiful Gentleman’s pocket knife of this quality.
