Shosui Takeda Blacksmith
Fort Henry Custom Knives is proud to be a direct Dealer with Shosui Takeda.
~ Direct from the Maker from BLADE 2015 ~
I have admired Shosui Takedas knives for many years. The Takeda Smithy was founded in 1920 and moved to Niimi in 1951. They produce hand-forged blades and tools such as kitchen knives, hunting knives, hoes, hatchets, etc. A third generation master blacksmith, Shosui Takeda specializes in hand forging blades from the highest quality carbon steel, Aogami Super Steel (AS), which has added Vanadium. The blades are marked with “AS” and Takeda’s Signature, all forged entirely by hand, as it has been done for generations. Each blade holds its edge extraordinarily well and resharpens easily.
This is an absolutely beautiful NEW One Hand Opening – Gentleman’s Slip Joint design from Master Takeda.
Master Takeda hand forged the Stainless Clad Aogami Super Steel blade and left the Forge scale on in the traditional Kuro-uchi style finish. The Lamination Line is visible evidence of the Harder Cutting Edge of the Blade against the Stainless Cladding.
This Knife is opened One Handed using the Unique Floating Thumb Ramp. When Open, the Thumb Ramp rides on top of the Frame. This one has an extremely Smooth Action and Crisp Half Stop. The Nickel Silver Bolsters have a Brushed Satin Finish.
Takeda’s small script Signature is hand stamped into every blade along with the AAS for Stainless Aogami Super Steel designation.
The Blade was Hand Sharpened on increasing grits of natural Japanese Waterstones by Takeda to a laser sharp edge.
The Handle Scales are Rich Dark Matching Desert Ironwood and the Bail on the End is Copper!
This knife will appeal to anyone who values true hand made tools with a rich history.
An incredible value for a smooth, beautiful Gentlemans pocket knife of this quality.
