Shosui Takeda Blacksmith

Fort Henry Custom Knives is proud to be a Dealer for Shosui Takeda

Just Received ~ Direct from the Maker

width=400

I have admired Shosui Takedas knives for many years.  The Takeda Smithy was founded in 1920 and moved to Niimi in 1951. They produce hand-forged blades and tools such as kitchen knives, hunting knives, hoes, hatchets, etc. A third generation master blacksmith, Shosui Takeda specializes in hand forging blades from the highest quality carbon steel, Aogami Super Steel (AS), which has added Vanadium. The blades are marked with “AS” and Takeda’s Signature, all forged entirely by hand, as it has been done for generations. Each blade holds its edge extraordinarily well and resharpens easily.

~ I just received a Large Order from Takeda ~

~ Direct from the Maker ~

Another traditional Japanese kitchen knife from Master Takeda – a traditional Funayuki Deba in the Kuro-Uchi style finish.

The Funayuki is what very similar to a Gyuto style knife, this style allows for effortless rocking, chopping and long or short slicing, one of the most versatile knives you can have in the kitchen.

Please forgive the overlap in the pictures, this big knife challenged the size of my Light Box.

Master Takeda hand forged the Aogami Super Steel ~ this is the NEW Style of San Mai with Stainless Cladding over the Aogami Super Steel Core blade which is approx 6  3/4″  long (17cm) and OVER 2″  Wide!   This beautiful blade has a clear full length Hamon indicating expert Heat Treatment that is nesscessary for superior performance!

 Takeda passes his blades to another Master who completed the traditional Japanese handling process. This is the way that Japanese Swords and knives have been made for centuries. The Natural Hard wood handle is custom contoured in an Octagon pattern.

The Nakago (or Tang) is sealed with a Natural Waterproof Resin.

Takeda’s Signature is hand stamped into every blade along with the AS for Aogami Super Steel designation. The Hamon is clearly visible and the blade is hand sharpened on increasing grits of natural Japanese Waterstones by Takeda to an amazing laser sharp edge.

This knife will appeal to anyone who values true hand made tools with a rich history.

An incredible value for a Hand Forged Blade of this size and quality.
