I have admired Shosui Takedas’ knives for many years. The Takeda Smithy was founded in 1920 and moved to Niimi in 1951. They produce hand-forged blades and tools such as kitchen knives, hunting knives, hoes, hatchets, etc. A third generation master blacksmith, Shosui Takeda specializes in hand forging blades from the highest quality carbon steel, Stainless Clad Aogami Super Steel (AS), which has added Vanadium. The blades are marked with “NAS” and Takeda’s Signature, all forged entirely by hand, as it has been done for generations. Each blade holds its edge extraordinarily well and resharpens easily.

This is undoubtedly the LARGEST Bichu No Kami that Takeda has ever made!
This is a traditional Japanese utility folding knife, in Pre War Japan all children and adults carried such a utility knife, this standard blade took care of most tasks.
What we may call a Friction Folder, the Japanese call a Bichu-no-Kami

The Blade was hand forged by Master Takeda from Aogami Super Steel, the uniform San Mai Lamination Line is clearly visible. This Lamination of Steels creates a Blade with a very Hard Edge and forgiving Spine.

It is marked NAS along with Takeda’s signature. It was sharpened on increasing grits of natural Japanese Water Stones and thus is Razor Sharp as all of Takeda’s knives normally arrive.

Takeda then crafted the gorgeous Amber Stag handle. The blade is easily opened using the exposed Tang (that folds back into the handle when open).

The action can be adjust easily using a Torx H10 bit.

The knife has a full Polished Stainless Frame and beautiful, Thick – Matching Stag handles onto the Stainless Frame.

This knife will appeal to anyone who values true hand made tools with a rich history.

Complete in a Thick, Bridle Leather Pouch Sheath.

One of a kind!
