Hiroaki Ohta has been hand crafting knives since 1989 and began knife making Full Time in 1998. His folding knives are prized the world over for their precision and beauty. Hiroaki Ohta’s knives have been featured in the KNIVES Annuals and appeared in BLADE magazine last year.

I have Only One in Carbon Fiber
This is a very special Friction Folder hand made by Hiroaki Ohta. Hiroaki brought only two to the Show in Full Carbon Fiber and this was the only one with a Custom Swedge on the Blade.
The blade was hand ground by Hiroaki from O-1 Carbon Steel and then given a labor intensive Hand Rubbed Finish and multiple applications of Cold Blueing.
A Friction Folder is the oldest of folding knife designs, ancient Viking Age Friction Folders (or Penny Knives as they were called ) have recently been discovered in Rome where they were a standard item for men of wealth and privilege!
To Open a Friction Folder you just need to pull back on the Exposed Tongue extended off the back of the blade. The action is set so that the blade will not fall open by itself.
A full size Handle allows for a Full, Secure, comfortable grip.
This Light Weight example by Hiroaki has Full Carbon Fiber handles as well as a Full Carbon Fiber Backspacer and Red Liners. It has a very smooth action and a well-centered blade. When opened, the Tongue is recessed into the handle.
Hiroaki makes his own Leather Pocket Sheaths for every knife, well stitched and holds the knife securely.
This one has the extra security of having a Full Kydex Liner! the Blade “Locks” into place when inserted into the Sheath ~ you cannot even shake it out if you try!
The Knife comes complete with plenty of Paracord for Neck wear and a Hand Made Wooden Cinch that Slides up and Down on the cord to adjust the length of the Cord.
A wonderful knife that will appeal to anyone who wants a 21st Century creation in a Traditional Design.
