I have been a Dealer for Herb Derr Custom knives for over a decade, long before I had a website I sold Herb’s knives at Knife Shows and Gun Shows, often to repeat Customers. Herb’s pieces are sole authorship ~ he forges his own Damascus, grinds his own blades, makes his own Leather Sheaths and still finds time to Teach courses at a Community College on how to make Damascus.

This knife was one of my first pics from Herb’s table a few years ago, it is now being offered for sale again by the Original customer.
This special knife has Herb’s High Carbon Birds Eye Damascus that is over 2,500 layers thick and a gorgeous Sambar Stag handle.
It has now been over a Decade since the Exportation Ban of India Sambar Stag has been in effect. Sambar Stag of this Quality is all but gone from today’s market.
This beautiful Stag handle has dark gnarly grain and a wonderful swell from the Mid Line to the back that fills the hand nicely! The Stag is flanked by Nickel Silver Spacers and a thick Stabilized Box Elder Burl wood spacer for color.
On this knife Herb has also added some Vine Filework on the Spine which looks great but has a dual purpose of also replacing Thumb Ridges for grip enhancement.
A beautiful knife with some great handle material that is almost gone from today’s market.
The Heavy Leather RH Belt sheath has an Australian Cane Toad Skin inlay.
