I have been a Dealer for Herb Derr Custom knives for over a decade, long before I had a website I sold Herb’s knives at Knife Shows and Gun Shows, often to repeat Customers. Herb’s pieces are sole authorship ~ he forges his own Damascus, grinds his own blades, makes his own Leather Sheaths and still finds time to Teach courses at a Community College on how to make Damascus.

Here is a wonderful Custom Bull Nose Skinner from Herb ~ well balanced and wonderfully proportionate, great materials and extremely comfortable.
I hand picked this knife from Herb’s table due to the Fossilized Stellar Sea Cow Rib handle and the Amazing Copper Colored Damascus Etch Pattern.
The knife has Herb’s own Hand Forged Twist Pattern, High Contrast Damascus which is over 2,500 layers thick.
The Fossilized Sea Cow Rib handle has Rich Color and beautiful Natural Grain. HERE is a link to some information on the Now Extinct Stellar Sea Cow. The wonderfully unique Handle material is flanked by Nickel Silver Spacers and a Stabilized Spalted Maple spacer for color.
Herb also gave this blade some unique Filework on the Spine, this would do double duty as Thumb Ridges if you choke up on the blade.
This is a truly Rare piece from Herb and it would be among the best of any Derr or Damascus Collection.
The Heavy Leather RH Belt sheath has an exotic Ostrich Skin inlay along with Custom Tooling around the mouth of the Sheath. Nice snug fit and a wonderful compliment to the knife.
