Description

MARIANO YANNONI

This year during the chaos that is the Blade Show I was intent to meet world renowned Knife Maker Claudio Sobral of CAS knives.  After talking with Claudio he introduced me to his good friend, also a Knife Maker ~ and that Maker was Mariano Yannoni.  I was thrilled to see that Mariano still had a few knives on his table, so after speaking with him and inspecting his knives ~ I purchased everything Mariano had left!  I am very proud to be able to offer his knives to my Customers.

Fort Henry Custom Knives is proud to be a direct Dealer for Mariano Yannoni custom knives

~ Direct from the Maker from Blade Show 2019 ~

Mariano Yannoni is clearly a Maker who enjoys Hand Crafting Solid Working knives, from Custom Fixed Blades to Robust Friction Folders.  Mariano uses several kinds of Steel on his knives, but his favorite is the Hand Forged San Mai steel that he gets from his friend Claudio Sobral!

A Friction Folder is the oldest of folding knife designs, ancient Viking Age Friction Folders (or Penny Knives as they were called ) have recently been discovered in Rome where they were a standard item for men of wealth and privilege!

This is a very powerful, Full Sized Friction Folder ~ Hand Crafted with Carbon Fiber Handle Scales and CAS Knives Hand Forged San Mai Steel!  This example by Mariano Yannoni has a very Smooth Blade Action, the blade has no play in any direction and the Full Sized Handle fills the palm very comfortably.

The Hand Forged San Mai Blade has a 1095 Core with a 420 Exterior ~ it was Forged by Claudio Sobral and then Hand Ground by Mariano with a near Perfect Convex Grind. It has a High Polished finish that clearly shows the gorgeous Lamination Lines of the Two Steels. Mariano decided to leave the Forge Scale at the Top and Rear of the blade for a Brute de Forge appearance.

The Textured Stainless Steel Frame and Carbon Fiber Backspacer give this knife a Sturdy yet Lightweight feel.

When opened, the extended Tang used to open the Blade rests inside the handle with the Custom Thumb Ridges of the Tang being perfectly matched with more on the Frame.

The overall build is very strong without being too heavy and will especially appeal to those where a Locking Knife is frowned upon.

A Thick Leather Belt Sheath also made by Mariano is included.

Tight stitching with a Soft Interior.  The Sheath holds the knife securely.

This knife comes with a Hand Written COA and an Extremely nice Leather Zipper Case for secure storage.
