 I was very fortunate to begin working with several South African Knife Makers many years ago, I am continually impressed with the Quality of their knives and the value they offer.  In my journey as a knife dealer several SA Makers have introduced me to other SA Makers and the list of quality knives that I sell from that country continues to grow.  

The newest addition to my website is South African Knife Makers Guild member Willem Steenkamp.  

Willem is one of the most personable SA Makers I have met, he is a stickler for detail and strives for perfection. He has a passion for the craft that he exhibits in every knife he makes.

 I hand picked this beauty from Willem’s table, it is a masterful copy of the Model that Bob Loveless designed ~ I feel that this is an exemplary value with wonderful fit and finish.  

(I apologize for my poor pictures, due to the impeccable Mirror Finish this knife deserves a professional photographer to adequately show the true beauty)   

 The design is robust and indeed it should be, but it also has a very comfortable hand filling feel due in part to the aggressively Tapered Tang.    

The blade of this beauty was hand ground from Bohler N690 Stainless steel.  As most any Maker will relate a Dagger Grind is one of the most difficult of all grinds to accomplish ~ this one is done to perfection. It has an Impeccable Mirror Finish on all Bevels (any small shadow or detail out of place is due only to my poor photography skills).   

The N690 steel is quickly gaining popularity with American Makers, it is a very clean Austrian steel with a nice amount of Chromium to make it nearly maintenance free. 

A very comfortable handle with palm swell and Thin Red Liners help to accent the color of the Desert Ironwood handle scales. The shape and size of the handle allows for a comfortable, secure grip.  

Provided with a thick, extremely well finished Right Hand Leather Belt Sheath, the knife fits deep and securely, no chance of the knife accidentally falling out.
