Shosui Takeda Blacksmith

Fort Henry Custom Knives is proud to be a direct Dealer with Shosui Takeda

~ Direct from the Maker ~

I have admired Shosui Takedas knives for many years.  The Takeda Smithy was founded in 1920 and moved to Niimi in 1951. They produce hand-forged blades and tools such as kitchen knives, hunting knives, hoes, hatchets, etc. A third generation master blacksmith, Shosui Takeda specializes in hand forging blades from the highest quality carbon steel, Aogami Super Steel (AS), which has added Vanadium. The blades are marked with “AS” and Takeda’s Signature, all forged entirely by hand, as it has been done for generations. Each blade holds its edge extraordinarily well and resharpens easily.

Direct from the Maker

This is THE LAST of the Carbon Clad – Aogami Super Steel Blades

This is a traditional Deba Bocho Japanese Kitchen knife. It has a traditional Forged “Kuro uchi” Finish on the blade.

The Deba Bocho is a very tough, thick prep knife for all types of Meat, Frozen Fish, Fresh or Frozen Chicken, etc.

The blade is Forged Thick (approx 1/4″ Thick) for maximum toughness, yet the edge is Razor Sharp!

Master Takeda hand forged the Aogami Super Steel blade which is approx 7  3/4″ long (19.7 cm) and 2  1/2″ Wide at the Heel!

Takeda passes his blades to another Master who completed the traditional Japanese handling process. This is the way that Japanese Swords and knives have been made for centuries. The Natural Hard wood handle is custom contoured in an Octagon pattern. I have more than one so the color and Grain may vary slightly from the picture ~but all of them are extremely nice.

The Nakago (or Tang) is sealed with a Natural Waterproof Resin.

Takeda’s Signature is hand stamped into every blade along with the AS for Aogami Super Steel designation. The San Mai –  Hamon is clearly visible and the blade hand sharpened on increasing grits of natural Japanese Waterstones by Takeda to a laser sharp edge.

This knife comes complete in a Presentation Box with the Name of the Maker and the knife indicated on the front.

This knife will appeal to anyone who values true hand made tools with a rich history.

An incredible value for a Hand Forged Blade of this size and quality.
