A friend and student of S. R. (Steve) Johnson and John Young. You may not know that Steve Johnson was a young man in Gil Hibben’s Scout troop when he made his first knife. Years later, young Mitch was in Steve Johnson’s Scout troop when he recreated history and made his first knife. Mitch has dedicated himself to creating impeccable knives just like his mentor and his friend.

Nope, your eyes are not playing tricks on you. This Hunter / Skinner definitely has a curved spine. When considered, it is easy to see that the increased angle works with you to naturally add cutting power and thus reduce fatigue during use. But of course let’s not forget the Amazing Amber Sambar Stag handle scales which have wonderful depth of color and are very well matched.
The beautifully Mirror polished blade is 3/16″ thick, it has a fully Tapered Tang with full Red Fiber Liners and a Lined Thong hole. The Soldering of the Tang (which many Makers do not attempt) is so well done that it appears to be one piece of steel.
Mitch also makes his own Hand Stitched heavy leather sheaths.
Great work by this rising star.
