Hiroaki Ohta has been hand crafting knives since 1989 and began making Full Time in 1998. His folding knives are prized the world over for their precision and beauty. Hiroaki Ohta’s knives have been featured in the KNIVES Annuals and appeared in BLADE magazine last year.

This is an Amazing Harpoon Bowie One Off that Hiroaki recently made for me, a Special Hidden Tang version.
Hiroaki hand ground the .155 Thick ATS-34 Steel blade with a Full Height Flat Grind. The Harpoon shaped blade is 1 3/8″ Wide at the rear! Hiroaki’s expert Heat Treat leaves the blade at 62 Rc.
Hiroaki chose some Gorgeous Cocobolo for the handle, it has excellent Color and Grain.
The Hidden Tang extends approx 7/8s of the way ~ almost to the end of the handle ~ and it is completely covered by a Micarta Overlay.
The handle has unique, Hand Filling contours, the Guard and Blind Bolt Covers are tough Black Micarta. Hiroaki makes the handles of his knives with the ultimate comfort in mind. His knives are super examples of Form & Function – no hand fatigue, no hot spots.
Hiroaki makes his own thick Leather Sheaths, Hand Stitched.
On this one he has added a new feature ~ a Full Kydex Liner.
The knife is a perfect fit and you can hear the Knife “lock” into place due to the Kydex Liner, this knife will not even fall out if you turn the sheath upside down and shake it!
