  I have been a Dealer for Herb Derr Custom knives for over a decade, long before I had a website I sold Herb’s knives at Gun & Knife Shows, most often to repeat Customers.  Herb’s pieces are sole authorship ~ he forges his own Damascus, grinds his own blades, makes his own Leather Sheaths and still finds time to Teach courses at a Community College on how to make Damascus.

  Here is a superb Clip Point Hunter from Herb that has his own Hand Foged High contrast Ladder Back Damascus. 

  Herb explained that his high Constrast Damascus blades often have over 2,500 layers. 

The knife has a comfortable Full Grip handle of Fossilized Oosic that has some of the best natural color variation that I have ever seen on this material. 

 Oosic (also known as baculum) is a Bone that assists in copulation in a variety of very large cold water dwelling underwater species of animals.  A very unique material that was thousands of years in the making!  

The handle is flanked by Nickel Silver Spacers and a Stabilized Maple Burl forward spacer for color.  

On this knife Herb has also added some Vine Filework on almost the entire length of the Spine which looks great but serves a dual purpose of also replacing Thumb Ridges for grip enhancement.  

This knife has a remarkable flow to the design and perfectly matched materials.  A superb looking knife with artistic attributes that will perform as good as it looks.  

  The Heavy Leather RH Belt sheath has a thick Ostrich Leg Skin inlay along with Custom Tooling around the mouth of the Sheath. Nice snug fit and a wonderful compliment to the knife.
