I have been a Dealer for Herb Derr Custom knives for over a decade, long before I had a website I sold Herb’s knives at Gun & Knife Shows, most often to repeat Customers. Herb’s pieces are sole authorship ~ he forges his own Damascus, grinds his own blades, makes his own Leather Sheaths and still finds time to Teach courses at a Community College on how to make Damascus.

Here is another Sole Authorship piece from Herb, it is a Long Hunter that he has forged with his RARE Twist Pattern Damascus. This was One of Only Three knives with Twist Damascus that Herb brought to the Show.
This is a knife with artistic attributes, but I guarantee it will perform as good as it looks.
The handle is made from Stabilized Zebra Leg bone. Herb has worked with the natural shape of the Bone to narrow the handle near the Finger Guard but leave it plenty thick at the butt, very hand filling and comfortable.
This Bone has Beautiful Natural colors and Intricate Grain. The rich colored handle is flanked by Nickel Silver Spacers and a Stabilized Buckeye Burl forward spacer for color.
On this knife Herb has also added some Vine Filework on almost the entire length of the Spine which looks great but serves a dual purpose of also replacing Thumb Ridges for grip enhancement. This knife also has an Upper Guard for extra Security.
Herb explained that this particular high contrast Carbon Damascus blade is over 2,500 layers thick.
The Heavy Leather sheath has Lizard Skin as the inlay.
Herb also added some Custom Tooling around the mouth of the Sheath. Nice snug fit and a wonderful compliment to the knife.
