I was very fortunate to begin working with several South African Knife Makers many years ago, I am continually impressed with the Quality of their knives and the value they offer. In my journey as a knife dealer several SA Makers have introduced me to other SA Makers and the list of quality knives that I sell from that country continues to grow.
The newest addition to my website is South African Knife Makers Guild member Willem Steenkamp.
Willem says, “My goal in knife-making is to improve my skills on every knife I make. I endeavor to learn as much as I can from other knife–makers that have the same interests as I have.”

I hand picked this beauty from Willem’s table due to the wonderful combination of materials and superb fit and finish ~ an exemplary value.
The design is sleek and extremely ergonomic – the spine follows an arched line that will increase the power of cut due to its geometry. The handle on this gorgeous knife is Stabilized Giraffe Bone that has beautiful natural color and grain. A very comfortable hand filling design with a generous handle.
The wide blade of this beautiful knife was hand ground from Bohler Uddeholm Nc690 Stainless steel. It has a very high Hollow Grind, a Tapered Tang and Distal Taper, fine point and is Razor Sharp!
The Nc690 steel is quickly gaining popularity with American Makers, it is a very clean Austrian steel with a nice amount of Chromium to make it nearly maintenance free, it has an extremely clean Satin finish will allow the knife to be used and still look great.
The Hand Stippled Bolsters have such a precision fit that they appear to be integral with the blade!
Willem added some nice Rope Filework on the Spine that doubles as Thumb Ridges, very comfortable.
The shape and size of the handle along with the generous Forward finger groove allow for a hand filling secure grip. Subtle thin Red Liners help accent the natural beauty of the Giraffe Bone. Willem also added an artistic matching Mosaic Pin to the handle.
Provided with a thick Left Hand Leather Belt Sheath, the knife fits deep and securely, no chance of the knife accidentally falling out.
