I was very fortunate to begin working with several South African Knife Makers many years ago, I am continually impressed with the Quality of their knives and the value they offer. In my journey as a knife dealer several SA Makers have introduced me to other SA Makers and the list of quality knives that I sell from that country continues to grow.
The newest addition to my website is South African Knife Makers Guild member Willem Steenkamp.
Willem says, “My goal in knife-making is to improve my skills on every knife I make. I endeavor to learn as much as I can from other knife–makers that have the same interests as I have.”

This is Willem’s simplest knife but like all the blades he creates he has given this one attention to detail ~ this is a great value for a custom Friction Folder |
The blade of this friction folder was hand ground from Bohler Uddeholm Nc690 Stainless steel. It has a very high Hollow Grind, a Distal Taper and enough belly for any small skinning chore. |

Nc690 steel is quickly gaining popularity with American knife Makers, it is a very clean Austrian steel with a nice amount of Chromium to make it nearly maintenance free. The Extended Tang has Thumb Ridges that enhance the grip when open.
Willem has the action just right on this knife, the pivot can be loosened or tightened but this one is perfect the way it is. The size of the handle insures room enough for a full grip, also the Blase Orange G-10 has some custom Texture Grooves in the middle to help improve the grip of the knife. The extended Tang sits completely down into the handle to insure a comfortable grip.
