Shosui Takeda Blacksmith

Fort Henry Custom Knives is proud to be a Dealer for Shosui Takeda

  ~ Direct from the Maker ~

width=400

I have admired Shosui Takedas knives for many years.  The Takeda Smithy was founded in 1920 and moved to Niimi in 1951. They produce hand-forged blades and tools such as kitchen knives, hunting knives, hoes, hatchets, etc. A third generation master blacksmith, Shosui Takeda specializes in hand forging blades from his New Stainless Clad High quality carbon steel, Aogami Super Steel (NAS), which has added Vanadium. The blades are marked with “NAS” and Takeda’s Signature, all forged entirely by hand, as it has been done for generations. Each blade holds its edge extraordinarily well and resharpens easily.

Rare Model ~ Direct from the Maker

This is another wonderful Japanese kitchen knife from Master Takeda – he explained to me that this is a style that he only makes a few of each year.  The Yanagiba is similar to a Sasanoha (which literally means “Leaf of Bamboo“).

Hand Forged with a Kuro-Uchi style finish. The Yanagiba is a versatile, thin, light weight knife, with plenty of Razor sharp cutting edge.

Master Takeda hand forged the Aogami Super Steel blade which is approx 7 1/2″  long and approx a full 1  3/8″ Wide at the Heel!

This beautiful blade has a full length Lamination Line indicating the hard edge that is necessary for superior performance!   Takeda’s Heat Treat process leave the Edge Hardness between 61 ~ 63 Rc.

 Takeda passes his blades to another Master who completes the traditional Japanese handling process. This is the way that Japanese Swords and knives have been made for centuries. The Natural Hard wood handle is custom contoured in an Octagon pattern.

The Nakago (or Tang) is sealed with a Natural Waterproof Resin.

Takeda’s Signature is hand stamped into every blade along with the NAS for his new Stainless Clad ~ San Mai – Aogami Super Steel designation.

The blade is hand sharpened on increasing grits of natural Japanese Waterstones by Takeda to an amazing laser sharp edge.

 This knife comes complete in a Presentation Box with the Name of the Maker and the knife indicated on the front.

This knife will appeal to anyone who values true hand made tools with a rich history.

An incredible value for a Hand Forged Blade of this size and quality.

Takeda produces a number of these models so there may be some slight variation in blade finish, blade length, handle material grain, or presentation box.
