Shosui Takeda Blacksmith
Fort Henry Custom Knives is proud to be a direct Dealer with Shosui Takeda.
~ Direct from the Maker from the Blade Show 2015 ~
I have admired Shosui Takedas knives for many years. The Takeda Smithy was founded in 1920 and moved to Niimi in 1951. They produce hand-forged blades and tools such as kitchen knives, hunting knives, hoes, hatchets, etc. A third generation master blacksmith, Shosui Takeda specializes in hand forging blades from the highest quality carbon steel, Aogami Super Steel, which has added Vanadium. The new blades are now Clad in Stainless and marked with “NAS” and Takeda’s Signature, all forged entirely by hand, as it has been done for generations. Each blade holds its edge extraordinarily well and resharpens easily.
Direct from the Maker
This is a one of Takeda’s traditional Seiryu Japanese Hunting knives in the Kuro-Uchi style finish. Master Takeda hand forged the Aogami Super Steel blade in a Classic Drop Point Blade profile.
Takeda then passed the blade to another Master who completed the traditional Japanese handling process. This is the way that Japanese Swords and knives have been made for centuries.
Takeda’s Signature and the letters NAS are hand stamped into every blade. This is one of the larger Seiryu that Takeda makes, the blade is 13CM (approx 5 3/4″ long and 1 1/4″ Wide).
The beautiful San Mai Clad is clearly visible and the Large Straight Spine Blade was hand sharpened by Master Takeda on increasing Grits of Natural Japanese Waterstones to a laser sharp edge.
This knife comes complete with a snug fitting, thick Vegetable Tanned Right Hand Leather belt sheath.
This knife will appeal to anyone who values true hand made tools with a rich history.
